Skinwalker Shards Linger

In every culture you have tales of the supernatural. From the Navajo Skinwalkers to the Crow Little People, some benevolent and some downright terrifying – I have experienced both.  There is so much more to our world than we can see or oft times perceive. I have woke up on the Navajo Reservation to drums under my house and seen an old man and his drum come through the floor and assure me everything is good. I have had waking dreams that seemed so real that I too felt buried alive like the people who once lived in Greasewood, Arizona. I have seen and photographed a UFO and had my life change so drastically after the sighting.original (1)

One evening in Greasewood, Arizona, I went to feed our horses on the ranch where we lived. I heard old Navajo Songs being sung and thought it odd since it was coming on evening and the sun was just setting. I did not see anyone so I went back to the house and asked Mary to come and translate. By the time we returned to the horses, the song gave way to a chant and Mary translated from Navajo to English an old curse on our horses and property. Being the naive “white guy”, I climbed up on the panels and gave my own challenge in English to whomever was cursing us. I cussed them and told them to show themselves because they were chicken shit in my book and the Navajo Singers needed to face me man to man. I had my 38 revolver in hand and  up out of the ground came two half man half wolf  fire eyed beasts. I have never seen eyes that glowed fire as they came forward to confront me. I brought my 38 revolver up and squeezed off all six rounds – click, click, click, click, click, click – not one chamber fired. Just like that they were gone and I was over the fence giving chase – not a sign- gone. Skinwalkers  terrifying and yet so real; I fired the old 38 revolver the next day without a problem. We had a ceremony done for the property and the horses and brought everything back to center but the fire in their eyes lingers in my soul.

  1. Jeff– I don’t believe in such things– until they happen!

And almost everything strange that ever happened to me was around Navajos or one old Comanche (who I have mentioned in my blog).

Keep on with your tales please.

  2. I have a Navajo friend who told me he and his father came accross a skinwalker. They fired at it with a rifle and the bullets bounced off . I have never heard of a white guy seeing a skinwalker. According to my friend, they are witches whp can shape-shift into animals. They are pure evil. (They seem to have control over bullets….very weird stuff !)

  3. my dh works in a museum that has a native american gallery. one day, the man watching the native american gallery locked it up to go to my hubby’s building to relieve him for lunch. about 10 minutes later, the alarm went off in the native american gallery that a specific case had been tampered with. hubby and the man rush to the gallery to find that the particular display had shattered into a million pieces….make that, shatter-proof glass had shattered into a million pieces. also, people reported being touched in the prison house (a separate building) where native american pow’s were held, i could go on. the spirits are active and they are real. keep up the posts…just fascinating. (if you like other paranormal experiences, i write of my own childhood in “ghosts of my past”…there’s a “trilogy” of sorts 😉 )

  4. Listening to your story on Coast to Coast. I was a white boy who lived on the reservation, in Sanders AZ. I also have a similar experience that I only share with those close to me.

  5. I was awake for the whole interview. It was fascinating. I truly believe there are things that go on in this world that most of us never take time to learn about. We need to be more aware. I am ordering your book and how do I follow other things that may happen on the rez? Thank you.

    1. Thank you – it was really fun doing the interview –
the best way to find out about the wonderful people on the reservation is donate time helping native people. You can always follow my blog to hear about what is happening with me –

  6. Hey Hoss, loved your interview on Coast to Coast last night. Freakie with the phone etc. Bought your book today and am really looking forward to it. Last night you recommended another book also with additional stories about skinwalkers. Would you mind telling me the name again? Thanks!!!!!

    1. It freaked me out too – thank you so much for buying the book – I always say it is better in person so radio was a new venue telling stories.
The book has a brief explanation of skinwalkers on page 140 – but is a wonderful series of stories – Storyteller by Leslie Marmon Silko

  7. Hi Hoss, heard the coast show. It was great. Took the family out that way in ’96.
By the way, get a Surefire Forearm for your 870. What is your opinion, if any, of
    the Dogman sightings back east?

    1. Love the Surefire Forearm for the 870 comment – I was leaning toward the Magpul furniture for it = but like that for upfront.
Thanks for listening last night – glad you enjoyed it!
I am a firm believer – I have friends online that have spent hours writing and researching – and while I was initially skeptical – there is definitely something there –
Here is the group on Facebook I am a part of – https://www.facebook.com/groups/358183697539020/

  8. I seldom leave a response, but I read some of the responses
on this page Skinwalker Shards Linger | Old Iron Adventure.
I do have some questions for you if it’s allright. Could it be
simply me or do some of the responses come across as if
they are left by brain dead people? 😛 And, if you are posting at additional sites, I’d
like to keep up with you. Would you make a list
of every one of all your social community pages
like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
