Integrity / Week Two !

integrityDefinition of INTEGRITY. 1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility.

I wrote last week and many of you voted about the integrity of strangers – the Craigslist people honored their original price! The cowhides are a positive memory as I walk through our home! INTEGRITY – THEY KEPT THEIR WORD!

I wonder if I had prefaced the whole voting with the word “Christian” if any of you would have changed your vote?

Today I had the opportunity to speak with a man who is a Bible banging Christian! He had made a deal with me some months back for the sum of $800 bucks! Yep, you guessed it – he went back on the deal! Integrity – he is worth millions and yet his word ain’t worth shit.

I always go back to my favorite poem – thank you Emily Dickinson for understanding!

Some keep the Sabbath going to Church --
I keep it, staying at Home --
With a Bobolink for a Chorister --
And an Orchard, for a Dome --

Some keep the Sabbath in Surplice --
I just wear my Wings --
And instead of tolling the Bell, for Church,
Our little Sexton -- sings.

God preaches, a noted Clergyman --
And the sermon is never long,
So instead of getting to Heaven, at last --
I'm going, all along.

  1. Integrity: you either have it or you don’t. Period. It’s not an occasional thing and it means EVERYTHING to me in all of my relationships….casual, personal, or professional. If you don’t have it I have no room for you in my life. It’s my best trait and it’s what I look for in others. Sorry about your 800 bucks!

    1. Well, I will take the loss to know what kind of man he is – he might be a millionaire but has nothing in my book! I guess that is why I like you Tammi – just no bullshit woman and your daughters follow your lead!

  2. That is an *awesome* poem. I hadn’t read it before!!! And I feel the same way. “An orchard for a dome…” So sorry about the deal! You’re right… The way we walk is more important than how we talk…

  3. It’s funny to me how many evil people “profess” to being Christians. I think they should show us, not tell us… It says in the Bible: “Faith, without WORKS is dead”. All the Faith in the world, does not erase their hypocrisy.
